Mishcon de Reya appoints Alison Rose as an Advisor

Posted on 17 September 2024

Mishcon de Reya has announced that Alison Rose has joined the firm as an Advisor.

Alison's focus will be on the firm’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and its delivery, working closely with the firm’s EDI Committee. Alison's responsibilities will also include mentoring a small number of partners.

Alison has over 30 years' experience in financial services and served as Chief Executive at the NatWest Group until 2023. Prior to this, she was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NatWest Group and Chief Executive Officer of the commercial and private banking business. She held a number of senior roles across the group including Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa for the Global Investment Bank, Global Head of Portfolio Management, and Head of Leveraged Finance for UK and Europe.

Alison previously served on the Prime Minister’s Business Council, the Government’s Energy Efficiency Taskforce and the Net Zero Council and is a founding member of GFANZ and part of the SMI Council for Climate. She was also invited by the UK Government to lead a review of the barriers to women starting businesses and launched the Rose Review in March 2019, which she then updated annually to detail good progress on female entrepreneurship.

Throughout her career, Alison has been a strong ambassador for diversity, climate and entrepreneurship. She was appointed Dame Commander (DBE) in the 2023 New Year Honours for services to the financial services sector. Alison was the former Chair of BITC’s Scotland Leadership Board and was appointed as Vice Chair of BITC in December 2022.

Vanessa Dewhurst, Partner and Chief People Officer at Mishcon de Reya, said:

“We are delighted that Alison has agreed to join Mishcon de Reya. Advisors of Alison’s calibre and leadership are rare and we couldn’t be happier that we will enjoy the benefit of her expertise, particularly given our commitment to delivering on our ambitious EDI targets. We are looking forward to making the most of the significant experience that Alison will bring to this role, and I warmly welcome her to the firm.”
