Mishcon de Reya has recently acted for West Bromwich Albion in relation to compliance proceedings brought by the EFL. The proceedings led to a two-day compliance hearing on 22 and 23 April 2026, with an operative decision (applying a 2-point deduction) published on 24 April 2026. The written reasons have now been published by the Club Financial Review Panel (CFRP).
Prior to the hearing, Mishcon worked with the Albion and the Club Financial Review Unit (CFRU) to ensure that the maximum penalty that could be imposed by the CFRP at the hearing was a 2-point deduction (rather than the 3 points originally proposed by the CFRU). As a result, the Albion were able to confirm their safety from relegation with a draw on 25 April 2026 (the day after the operative decision was published).
