Katy Colton, Kathryn Garbett and Kevin McCarthy named in The Lawyer's Hot 100 2021

Posted on 25 January 2021

Katy Colton, Kathryn Garbett and Kevin McCarthy have been named in The Lawyer's Hot 100 2021. Mishcon de Reya is one of the few firms to have three lawyers included in this list, which recognises the most daring, creative and innovative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar and includes those who are shaping the legal profession right now.

Katy, Managing Associate, has been recognised for her remarkable appointment as Head of the Politics & Law Group and because "in what has been a relatively short career thus far, Colton has already dealt crunching body blows to Britain’s political elite. First, she contributed to Mishcon’s defeat of a Tory government in Miller II, while more recently she supported the Jewish Labour Movement in relation to the EHRC’s investigation into anti-Semitism within the Labour Party".

Kathryn, Partner and Head of the Fraud Defence Group, has been recognised for her "charisma complimented by toughness", which "inspires her lawyers through leadership and her own impressive caseload". She has been working on many relevant cases, including Public Institution for Social Security of Kuwait v Man Group & Ors: a £600m multi-jurisdictional fraud scrap where she is representing the first defendant Fahad Maziad Rajaan Al-Rajaan.

Kevin, Partner and Chair of the Corporate department, has been recognised for his growth within the Private Equity sector, "marshalling its growth via a niche in management advisory, or in other words representing the people running a business that is being bought or sold by private equity" and for his ability to gather his personal, relationship-driven type of lawyering with Mishcon’s client base of entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
