Partner Johanna Walsh has been named at Law Society Gazette's 'Lawyer in the News' as a result of her pro bono work representing the Criminal Bar Association in their dispute with the Ministry of Justice over legal aid funding.
The interview covers Jo's thoughts on the case and media attention around it, as well as some of her career highs and lows.
Jo said, 'The case is really about the barristers that are in the news this week – those members of the criminal bar who are striking following years of legal aid cuts and continued delays by the Government in introducing the urgent fee increase for criminal barristers and solicitors recommended by Sir Christopher Bellamy QC following his independent review last year.
'It is in all of our interests to come together as a profession to support the CBA and Mishcon has sought to do that since the CBA's days of action began through our pro bono representation of them.'
