The role of law session 2: Making sustainable finance work for you

DateTimeHybrid

Join our Mishcon Academy digital event series exploring the 'Role of law in driving sustainability'. In this second session in the series, chaired by Paul Clements-Hunt, Director of Mishcon Purpose, we will be focussing on sustainable finance through a legal lens.

After the conclusion of the United Nations COP27 Climate Summit in Egypt, finance is once again at the epicentre of the global sustainability focus. Amongst other issues, we will cover:

  • How your institution can make the most of the new, dynamic and innovative sustainable finance products, platforms and approaches emerging, as well as avoiding the threats of greenwashing
  • The critical role that capital markets will play as we shift from a long era of extractive capitalism to a new one of regenerative capitalism
  • The framing, focus and delivery of the new COP27 multi-lateral "loss and damage" fund for the vulnerable countries that have contributed very little to the planet's historical global warming debt
  • The influence of the ESG data explosion, the risks of ranking and the role of credit rating agencies in helping or hindering progression towards sustainability

Our experts will look at the key developments in this area in 2023 and discuss the best practices in responsible investment, as well as those which could pose potential risks in the future. We will ask: how can we change behaviours to ensure that we are working towards real sustainable finance and responsible investment?

The Mishcon Academy offers outstanding legal, leadership and skills development for legal professionals, business leaders and individuals. Our learning experts create industry leading experiences that create long-lasting change delivered through live events, courses and bespoke learning.
