Sally Britton, Partner, Dispute Resolution

Welcome to the winter edition of Brand Matters.

In November, I was privileged to attend the COP26 conference in Glasgow, where Mishcon presented our work with The Global Youth Climate Inquiry

We were delighted recently to launch The Purpose Hub, an active space and resource for companies that are aiming to build value by playing a wider role in society, to share their thoughts on the opportunities and challenges of ESG.  At our launch event, we discussed our B Corp certification journey and how we've been working in partnership with others to use the law to address the overlooked issues of climate migration and The Global Youth Climate Inquiry: click here for a short highlights film. Also aligned with COP26, alongside Walpole we recently supported Country & Town House magazine on GBB Zero, a one-off sustainability-focused edition of its annual Great British Brands compilation, which showcased 26 industry leaders from established and emerging luxury brands who are paving the way in the Race To Zero.

In this edition, we include a podcast where Stuart Lester, a Managing Associate in our Brands team, speaks to Miles Lockwood, Director of Complaints and Investigations at the Advertising Standards Authority – their conversation is a fascinating insight into the challenges for brands looking to adopt a greener approach.

Many thanks to the contributors to this edition. I hope you enjoy reading it. Wishing you all a wonderful festive December with family and friends, and we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
