Welcome to the latest edition of Beauty Watch, a special e-bulletin dedicated to issues that affect businesses in the beauty and cosmetics sectors.

In this issue, we look at brand protection in relation to the rise of celebrity beauty brands, and provide an update on regulatory issues facing the industry. These include the EU Commission's consultation on proposed changes to the EU Cosmetics Products Regulation and updated advertising guidance on cosmetic interventions. With beauty collaborations and partnerships continuing to create headlines, we talk to MDR Brand Management's Michaela Seligman on recent collaborations in which the team have been involved, and how a collaboration or licensing arrangement works in practice. Finally, we provide some practical guidance on the tensions between worker status and self-employment in the beauty industry, as well as on negotiations with landlords for beauty brands looking to take on a pop-up store.
