Mishcon de Reya LLP is pleased to announce that Ethan Tan has joined the firm as a Partner in its Singapore office. He is the tenth Partner to have joined Mishcon de Reya this year.
Ethan is an experienced aviation lawyer having advised his clients, including major airlines, lessors, banks and investors, on some of the largest and most significant aviation transactions in the Asia-Pacific region.
He will join the transactional team in the Singapore office, which already has maritime capability including ship finance, to form a broader transportation finance group. The transportation finance practice will sit within a large and growing finance practice in our Singapore office that advises clients on complex financing transactions such as structured loans, high-yield loans and debt restructurings.
Ethan’s expertise extends from aviation finance to all varieties of aviation-related work, including operating leases, finance leases, commercial lending, ECA-backed lending, large OEM purchase orders, aircraft secured bonds, ABSs, hedging, asset-driven M&A, aviation JVs, MRO contracts, restructuring, enforcement/repossession, private jets, aircraft trading and commercial disputes. In addition to aviation, Ethan advises clients on derivatives and structured products. He has advised global investment banks, private banks, regional banks, funds and other financial institutions on large, multi-jurisdictional documentation and regulatory compliance projects.
Ethan was named a rising star in aviation in Expert Guides 2021, a rising star in aviation finance in Airfinance Journal’s 2018 Guide to Aviation Lawyers and a leading individual in the aviation industry in Airline Economics’ 40 under 40 2018 list. Prior to joining Mishcon de Reya, Ethan worked at top international law firms in Singapore and previously held the appointments of Justices’ Law Clerk, Assistant Registrar, Law Clerk to the Competition Appeal Board and Magistrate in the Supreme Court of Singapore.
