Following the Government’s recent announcement of emergency measures to boost housebuilding in London, Planning Partner Nicholle Kingsley has provided comment to various media publications about what the package could mean for delivery across the capital.
She notes that, while the measures represent a positive and pragmatic response to viability pressures slowing delivery, short term interventions alone are unlikely to unlock the scale of housing London needs.
Measures such as reduced CIL liability and enabling existing consents to benefit may help at the margins, but longer-term, structural solutions will be key.
