Earlier this year, Partner Kathryn Garbett was named in The Lawyer Hot 100. Kathryn is recognised, among other things, for her work on the case of Public Institution for Social Security of Kuwait v Fahad Al Rajaan & Others, where she is representing the first defendant Fahad Al-Rajaan. This $800m+ multi-jurisdictional alleged fraud case has emerged as one of the largest disputes ever heard in the Commercial Court. Kathryn is also a director of the Fraud Women's Network and co-found of Mishcon de Reya's Criminal Law Panel.
In the follow up career quiz, she talks to The Lawyer about her most vivid memory from being a trainee, the wisest thing anyone ever has said to her and the advice she would give to someone who wants to have a career in law:
"Two pieces of advice which I often give are:
1. Your own skin will always fit you best so make yourself comfortable in it; and
2. Always make five minutes for the enquiry that you don’t have time for: it could turn into your biggest case."
