Theo Clarke is a conservative party politician who was the MP for Stafford from 2019 to 2024.

In this session Theo will discuss her memoir, Breaking the Taboo, which shares her personal experience of birth trauma and highlights how common and under-discussed the issue is in the UK. She reveals that thousands of women suffer traumatic births each year, with many developing post-traumatic stress disorder, yet poor maternity care is often accepted as normal.

The book also explores the challenges of being a mother and an MP, exposing how new mothers are treated in politics. It calls for urgent change and aims to break the silence around birth trauma.
