In conversation with Gill Kernick: Catastrophe and Systemic Change

DateTimeOnline

Author and presenter Gill Kernick will be discussing her book, Catastrophe and Systemic Change: Learning from the Grenfell Tower Fire and Other Disasters.

Gill Kernick lived on the 21st floor of Grenfell from 2011 to 2014 and seven of her former neighbours died in the tragic fire that occurred in 2017. The event was the worst residential fire in London since World War II and killed seventy-two people.

Catastrophe and Systemic Change uses the details of the Grenfell tragedy as a case study to consider two key questions: why don’t we learn? And what would it take to enable real systemic change? The book explores the myths, challenges and conditions that inhibit learning and identifies opportunities to disrupt the status quo.

Gill will be interviewed by Kizzy Augustin, Partner in the White Collar Crime and Investigations Group and a specialist in Health and Safety.
