הדיון יעסוק בדואליות שבדמותו של אברהם, בפערים, בסתירות ובמורכבויות בין אמונה לתבונה ובין גורל לבחירה.
אנתוני ג'וליוס הוא עורך דין, אינטלקטואל וסופר בריטי בולט, וכן שותף בכיר במשרד Mishcon de Reya הוא נודע במיוחד כמי שייצג את הנסיכה דיאנה בגירושיה מהנסיך צ'ארלס, וכמומחה בתחומי לשון הרע, זכויות יוצרים והיסטוריה משפטית. ג'וליוס היה גם בצוות ההגנה של ההיסטוריונית דבורה ליפשטדט בתביעה שהגיש נגדה מכחיש השואה דייוויד אירווינג – משפט מכונן במאבק נגד הכחשת שואה, שתועד בסרט "הכחשה" Denial. לצד הקריירה המשפטית, ג'וליוס עוסק במחקר של תרבות, זהות ואנטישמיות, ופרסם ספרים רבים.
רות קלדרון היא חוקרת תלמוד, סופרת ואשת ציבור, הפועלת לקידום תרבות יהודית-ישראלית פלורליסטית. היא ייסדה את עלמא – בית לתרבות עברית בתל אביב, מוסד לימוד ייחודי שבו נפגשים טקסטים יהודיים עם יצירה עכשווית, מתוך תפיסה של תרבות יהודית כחלק מהשיח הכללי בחברה הישראלית.

17:10 - Ruth Calderon engages Anthony Julius in a discussion about his latest work, Abraham: The First Jew. This conversation would explore the duality of Abraham's character, oscillating between reason and faith, and how this duality has influenced Jewish identity and thought (English).
Anthony Julius is a prominent British lawyer, intellectual, and author, and a Deputy Chairman at Mishcon de Reya. He is widely known for representing Princess Diana in her divorce from Prince Charles, and for his expertise in defamation, copyright, and legal history. Julius was also part of the legal defence team for historian Deborah Lipstadt in the landmark libel case brought against her by Holocaust denier David Irving—a pivotal moment in the fight against Holocaust denial, later depicted in the film Denial.
Alongside his legal career, Julius is an accomplished scholar of culture, identity, and antisemitism, and has published numerous books on these subjects.
Ruth Calderon is a Talmud scholar, author, and public intellectual dedicated to promoting a pluralistic Jewish-Israeli culture. She is the founder of Alma – Home for Hebrew Culture in Tel Aviv, a unique educational institution where Jewish texts meet contemporary creativity, rooted in the belief that Jewish culture belongs in the broader Israeli public discourse.
Yuval Linden is an educator, historian, and the Deputy Director General and Head of the Secular Yeshiva of BINA – The Jewish Movement for Social Change.
