'On the Move' news

British firm Mishcon de Reya nabbed DLA Piper litigation partner Joshua Sohn to cohead its complex civil litigation and white-collar defense practice in New York, according to U.K. publication Legal Week. Sohn once represented Maher Arar—a Canadian citizen and software engineer detained at a New York airport and later tortured in Syria under a U.S. rendition program for suspected terrorists—in a suit against the federal government. While the litigation was eventually dismissed, Arar secured a $9 million settlement from the Canadian government.
