Robert Hines, Managing Associate in the Family team, contributed to STEP Journal (Volume 30, Issue 3) considering issues arising over non-fungible tokens (NFTs) during relationship breakdown and divorce in England and Wales.
He wrote: "The emergence of non-fungible tokens as a valuable asset has increased their relevance in the context of divorce, giving rise to new and challenging considerations. Understanding how such assets will be treated can play an important role in wider wealth planning and can assist advisors in supporting clients going through a divorce process. Undertaking appropriate due diligence and investigations, and understanding the rights and obligations associated with an NFT is vital."
