As we mark Pro Bono Week 2025, Mishcon de Reya is proud to reaffirm its commitment to using the law as a force for good. This year, the newly formed Responsible Business committee is excited to launch a refreshed approach to pro bono work—one that reflects our values, energises our culture, and sets ambitious goals for the future.
Our Pro Bono Mission Statement
At the heart of this renewed commitment is our new Pro Bono Mission Statement. It articulates Mishcon de Reya’s ethos and approach to pro bono work, serving as a public-facing declaration of our dedication to increasing access to law and creating opportunity.
At Mishcon de Reya, our commitment to pro bono work reflects our core values and our aim to increase access to law and create opportunity. Through our pro bono efforts, we seek to provide high-quality legal advice and representation to individuals who would otherwise be unable to afford it, as well as to charities and community groups. We believe in the power of the law and our responsibility as legal professionals to use our skills to make a positive impact. We encourage all our lawyers to dedicate a portion of their time to pro bono work.
We have a strong pipeline of pro bono opportunities suitable for all specialties and seniorities. We do incredible strategic litigation, like for Mums for Lungs and Ruth Ellis. We have impactful legal education initiatives like the Schools Consent Project and Big Legal Lesson, which anyone can do, regardless of seniority or specialty. We also have several departmental specific clinics that do incredible work. Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre has fielded nearly 800 queries for Pink Law since the 2009 academic year and a client from the Black Justice Project said, “I appreciate my case was heard with compassion and I am thankful to Arjun and team for providing me the necessary legal advice."
Pro bono work is not just a professional responsibility - it’s a chance to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. It can set us apart as a law firm and grow our skills as lawyers. As we celebrate Pro Bono Week, we invite every legal professional at Mishcon de Reya to reflect on how they can contribute. Whether you’re new to pro bono or a seasoned advocate, your time and expertise matter.
