Mishcon de Reya reaches greenhouse gas emission reduction targets - Science Based Targets Initiative

Posted on 25 November 2021

This week, Mishcon de Reya received confirmation of the Firm’s successful reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the target review process carried out by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The Firm is now listed among over 2,000 other companies across a range of sectors, taking action towards science-based targets - placing Mishcon de Reya at the forefront of businesses leading the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

The SBTi’s review and listing of our 1.5 degrees C carbon emission target is in line with the Firm’s own Climate Change Strategy. Part of Mishcon de Reya's commitment to becoming a net zero carbon business and achieving the most ambitious aims of the Paris Agreement is reflected in the SBTi review, confirming we’re on track to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C.

The Firm is achieving this milestone through a three-step approach: Reduce, Capture, Catalyse. Read more about our Climate Change Strategy here. Mishcon de Reya’s inclusion on SBTi’s list demonstrates that we will successfully reduce our emissions by 4.2% annually for the next 10 years, to reach the 1.5 degrees C reduction goal.

SBTi is supported by a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Its call to action is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments, driven by the goal to urgently increase ambition in the fight against climate change.
