Gemini Untwined helps save the lives of third set of conjoined twins

Posted on 7 September 2021

Over the weekend, charity Gemini Untwined facilitated a third successful lifesaving operation to separate conjoined twins.

A leading team of paediatric neurosurgeons, led by Mr Noor ul Owase Jeelani, successfully separated the one year old twin girls, following a 12 hour surgery involving over 50 professionals at the Soroka Medical Centre in Beersheba, Israel.

Pioneered at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, this is the first time the team has performed this complex surgery outside of the UK.

Mishcon de Reya is proud to provide pro bono support to Gemini Untwined, which helps conjoined twins access lifechanging surgery to give them the best possible chance at healthy and independent lives.

This is the third set of twins Gemini Untwined has helped support since it was founded in 2019.
