Amanda Gray comments on young artists' rights in The Financial Times

Posted on 8 July 2022

Partner Amanda Gray has been quoted in 'The Weekend Essay' in The Financial Times Life & Art supplement, discussing the issues up and coming artists are facing when selling their artwork to collectors.

The article, which examines the state of the post-pandemic art market, explores the issues some living artists are dealing with. Paintings are being bought and sold by collectors at very high prices, without the artists seeing the profits themselves.

Amanda said, 'Artists lose control when they sell their work. Their reputations may grow as it is bought and sold, but they do not necessarily gain a direct financial benefit.'

The full article can be found on The Financial Times (paywall).
