Pip Jamieson is the Founder and CEO of The Dots, a white-label private social networking app powering communities for leading organisations. Named one of The Sunday Times’ Top 100 Disruptive Entrepreneurs and recognised by Adweek as a trailblazer having a positive impact on the world, she is a passionate advocate for community as a driver of social cohesion, trust and collective action.

Pip originally built The Dots for her own community, growing it to more than a million members before licensing the technology for Soho House’s Works community. Today, the platform powers more than 65 private social networks for organisations including Apple, The Conduit and UN Women UK. Its aim is to help communities retain ownership of their data, engagement and revenue, rather than handing them over to major social media platforms.

Alongside building The Dots, Pip champions community-led growth and the role of strong communities in creating a lasting competitive advantage in the age of AI. She is proudly dyslexic and lives on a houseboat called Horace.

Highlights

Right now, I think one of the most important things we can do for the world is build real communities again.

The clearer the shared purpose, the better communities are.

The brilliant thing about my brain is that I can connect things or connect the dots in ways other people find difficult and see solutions very, very quickly and so that has led to more innovation and creativity within the business.

The joy of now just powering communities is magical because I get to enable brilliant communities and you know, the product we license is about 1% of the experiments that we did that worked.

I've always promised myself if I hated it more than I liked it then that was the time to walk away and I've never reached that point.
