David Forbes-Nixon OBE is Founder and Chairman of the DFN Charitable Foundation and DFN Project SEARCH, established to improve opportunities for disabled people and build a more inclusive society. He brings 34 years’ experience in investment banking and fund management, having served as Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Alcentra from 2002 to 2020. 

Inspired by his disabled son Charlie, David founded the DFN Charitable Foundation in 2014 and DFN Project SEARCH in 2018, supporting education and employment opportunities for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. He was awarded an OBE in 2021 for services to children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

I grew up with philanthropy and public service and also the need to give back. 

I think audacious goals are a good thing.

I'd like to think you judge a civilized society by the quality of care you give to the most vulnerable people. 

The first thing I would say is I think every life is of equal value.
