Johanna Walsh recognised by GIR's Women in Investigations 2021

Posted on 18 May 2021

Partner in the White Collar Crime & Investigations Group Johanna Walsh has been recognised by Global Investigations Review (GIR) as a leading practitioner in the field of white collar investigations.

Published every three years the GIR Women in Investigations 2021 highlights 100 women from around the world that are leaders in their profession and includes, amongst many notable others, former US Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Sally Yates, the former deputy US attorney general.

The full list of highlighted individuals can be found here.

Speaking about changes in the profession over her career Johanna said:

"The wider investigation landscape for financial crime and misconduct has changed enormously over my career and for a number of reasons, including the introduction of compliance-based offences and defences, greater enforcement engagement with corporate misconduct, and increased regulation in other areas, such as anti-money laundering, for both corporates and individuals. A significant number of enforcement authorities and regulators now police this area: it was predominantly the role of the Serious Fraud Office in the UK when I began my career. These same changes have also prompted more self-investigation by corporates. Today, I engage with a far wider range of enforcement authorities and regulators in relation to a wider range of issues."
