Mary is an intellectual property specialist in the life sciences and retail sectors. The non-contentious side of her work deals with the exploitation of IP and related rights, such as licensing, franchising and distribution agreements; corporate acquisitions; and advice on the regulatory aspects of launching pharmaceutical and biotech medicines in the EU and UK. Her contentious work covers patents, trade marks, design rights and copyright disputes.

Mary joined the Firm in 2007. She has a Masters in Biochemistry from Oxford University.

Key Experience

  • Acting for Sixtem Life Srl (of Italy), Diomed Developments Limited and DDD Limited as joint defendants in patent proceedings brought by Orasure Technologies, Inc.
  • Advising Harvey Nichols and Company Limited in an arbitration against the licensees of the Harvey Nichols store in Jakarta, and related litigation in Jakarta.
  • Advising Advanta International BV (Netherlands) part of the United Phosphorus Group on a technology licence and supply agreement relating to the procedures employed by the European Food Safety Agency (and related Ombudsman complaint)
  • Advising Manor Holdco Limited on a new research and development services agreement with MacLaren in relation to the Virgin Marussia formula one racing team.
  • Advising United Phosphorus (UK) on various task force collaboration agreements for the production of new regulatory data to support existing products and numerous product and corporate acquisitions including the recent acquisition of a Spanish agrochemicals from Bayer CropSciences.
  • Advising Clasado on the exploitation od its novel pre-biotic technology and related commercial agreements.
  • Advising Perrigo UK on a wide range of IP and regulatory issues, including product data licensing and data collaboration agreements.
  • Various franchise and supplier agreements for fashion clients including Prada and Harvey Nichols.
  • Advising Chemagis Limited (of Israel) in an arbitration dispute relating to the Commercial Agents Regulations with Jenson Pharmaceutical Services Limited.
