Maria is a solicitor in the Immigration group. Her practice includes acting for both individual and corporate clients with an emphasis on finding bespoke Immigration solutions. Her clients benefit from her technical knowledge and experience in dealing with exceptional cases.
Maria specialises in the following applications: Tier 1 Investor visas; Tier 1 General extensions; Sponsor Licences for companies under Tier 2; Certificate of Sponsorships (the old work permits); Tier 4 Student; Tier 5 Temporary Workers, appeal applications; domestic workers in private households; fiancée/spouse/civil partnership and unmarried partner; rights under European law; Indefinite Leave to Remain and applications to naturalise as a British Citizen. Maria also has experience with claims for political asylum and economic citizenship applications for St Kitts & Nevis, Austria, Belgium and Slovakia.
Maria is the Immigration representative in the Firm's Sports group which has recently been appointed to the London 2012 Olympics Pro Bono Advice and Representation Service. Maria will spearhead the Immigration group's advice to international athletes, coaches and others involved in the event.
Maria also supervises the Immigration element of Pink Law, a free legal service to help those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender.
Maria is named in the Private Client Practitioner’s Top 35 Under 35 as one of the Top 35 under 35 young and upcoming private client advisory professionals. She was quoted in the FT and in the BusinessBecause, a specialist network connecting students, recruiters and business schools around the world in relation to her work lobbying the UK Government regarding the adverse affect of Student visa restrictions. She also advises a prime time BBC drama series in relation to their immigration story lines and provides commentary on high profile immigration cases on BBC radio.
Maria was involved, as part of the Mishcon de Reya team, in the successful lobbying of the UK Government in respect of key changes to the Tier 1 (Investor) scheme for High Net Worth individuals.
