Mishcon de Reya launches annual Art Prize

Release Date: 24 November 2009

Mishcon de Reya Solicitors’ Family Department, in association with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, last week launched its inaugural Mishcon de Reya Art Prize at an event held at London’s Imagination Gallery.

The competition, which is open to students of Central Saint Martins MA Fine Art Course, aims to encourage and support creativity – something that Mishcon de Reya’s Family Department has always embraced in its own working practices.

Each year students will be asked to submit works of art that are inspired by and concerned with ‘Creativity in Conflict’. The submissions will then be judged by:
  • Kay Saatchi, Independent Collector and Curator of Contemporary Art
  • Mark Dunhill, Dean, School of Art, Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design
  • Sandra Davis, Head of Family Law, Mishcon de Reya
The winning works will be announced in early 2010 and will be displayed in Mishcon de Reya’s offices in Holborn. There will also be a significant financial award for the top three artists.

Commenting on the launch of the prize, Sandra Davis, Head of Family Law at Mishcon de Reya, said:

“Managing conflict in a creative, careful and considerate manner is Mishcon de Reya’s specialism. In an exciting move that reflects our ethos we are delighted to have developed a unique cultural partnership with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London - our neighbours in Holborn.”

Joanna Greenhill, Course Director of MA Fine Art, Central Saint Martins:

"Central Saint Martins' MA Fine Art Course will benefit considerably from the support and generosity of Mishcon de Reya. The Creativity in Conflict competition presents an exciting opportunity and creative challenge for the postgraduate students."
