Catherine is a Managing Associate in the Intellectual Property department. She specialises in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property, in particular trade marks, passing off, copyright, design rights and breach of confidence. She acts for clients in a variety of sectors including retail, fashion, pharmaceuticals, technology, media and sports.
Catherine has advised many household names in relation to brand strategy, clearance, protection and enforcement of their rights. She has represented clients in the UK Intellectual Property Office, EUIPO, the High Court and Court of Appeal.
She has experience of alternative dispute resolution procedures, including mediation. In addition, she has experience as an in-house lawyer, having completed two secondments at a technology company and at one of the UK's largest fashion retailers.
Catherine is a member of the Society for Junior Intellectual Property Practitioners (IPSoc) and has a diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice.
- Catherine has acted for Cadbury in relation to their dispute with Nestle regarding the protection of Cadbury's famous colour purple. She has particular expertise in the protection and enforcement of non-traditional trade marks.
- Catherine acted in a TV formats dispute for BskyB in relation to a claim brought by litigants in person.
- Catherine has experience in dealing with contentious issues relating to filing and prosecuting trade marks both in the UK Intellectual Property Office and EUIPO.
