Introducing the ACFC and the CFE Exam Review Course

ACFC – Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

Gary Miller, CFE
Partner, Mishcon de Reya

The ACFC is the world’s largest private sector anti-fraud organisation.  It has got about seventy five thousand members in a hundred and fifty countries and is dedicated to the training and education of anti-fraud professionals.

The 2015 ACFC European Fraud Conference

How do you identify and measure success in fraud investigation and asset recovery?  We have to measure everything.  If we are to be relevant, if we are to be employed which is quite important by clients and by organisations that need our help we have to measure what our contribution is.

It is really important for Mishcon who are one of the leading anti-fraud firms in the country to play a role in shaping and improving the anti-fraud skills and professional standards in the UK.

Alison Levitt QC, CFE
Partner, Mishcon de Reya

The course takes place over four days and it comprises a number of modules dealing with a wide range of subjects so it touches on some law, on some accountancy, on some psychology and philosophy and professional ethics.  The person who emerges at the end of the CFE course will know enough about all of those areas in order to be able to detect fraud and to investigate it to a really high standard.

The CFE qualification is really important and it is important from two perspectives.  The perspective of the individual CFE who is qualifying because the statistics have shown that CFEs earn on average about 25% more than their non-certified colleagues and secondly it is recognised by the worlds’ largest anti-fraud investigative organisations.

We really feel that the ACFC is the gold standard for fraud investigation and so we have decided that we would want to be associated with this and in fact we are the only law firm in the country to offer this.

It’s also really important for us to bring the CFE qualification and to develop it as a badge of honour for anyone and everyone who is interested and as passionate about investigating and preventing fraud as we are.
