So today retail to us is all about the experience.  In real life situations, in the physical bricks and mortar store it’s got to be all about telling a story, all about the experience and all about building that brand connection.

We are seeing a change from traditional retail where people would go in and there is lots of products piled up in stores to a new experience in retail and it is going to be interesting to see how retail has embraced technology in their stores, be it through tablets, through the use of mobile technology.

We are predominantly an online business and what we have realised as we have grown is that while the online offering is great for some customers, being able for other customers to actually come and meet us, touch and feel the clothes, understand the quality behind them is really important to them.

I retail directly to the customers from my website.  I also use that as a trade tool for my retailers so they can log in and as a trade, so that’s a very important tool for me and my business.

Our preferred route is online and it’s a simple strategy, social media, you know, we use Twitter, we use Instagram, we sell a lot to the US, we sell into Asia and into mainland Europe, having an efficient, good looking website is essential really.

We sell internationally as a wholesale business so you can buy Marwood in Liberty, online with Mr Porter.  We sell with Bloomingdales and we have a great market in Japan.  People email us and say they have seen us on social media and Instagram is something that’s growing because it’s much more visual and it’s much easier to kind of connect with people.
