Ahead of speaking at Oslo Blockchain Day, Tom Grogan, Co-Lead of the Mishcon de Reya Blockchain Group, has been interviewed by Maria Amelie of Blockchangera, alongside Kieran Brown of Berkeley Research Group.
In the interview, Tom reflects on the adoption of emerging technologies in the public sector, Mishcon’s recent experience advising HM Land Registry on their blockchain-based residential property transfer platform, and the need to reframe the conversation surrounding blockchain technology to be solutions-focussed rather than technology or ideology-driven.
"Governments don’t care about the pursuit of ‘technological advancement’, ‘automation’ and a ‘futuristic world’, and nor should they. They have bigger fish to fry: economic growth, job security, healthcare, defence, an aging society, homelessness, budget management and education. If emerging technologies are to succeed, they need to align themselves with one of these big ticket items.”
