On Wednesday 28th November, we hosted an event at our offices in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) and the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB) to celebrate the many successes that exist in Rwanda today and, in particular, opportunities for international engagement in the Rwandan mining sector.
In the words of Hon. Francis Gatare, the CEO of the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board: “[the] event was a chance to display the exceptional development made in Rwanda’s mining industry and demonstrate everything the country has to offer potential investors…and encourage others to look to Rwanda in the future not only as a mining destination with potential in its own right, but as a gateway to East Africa."
Mishcon de Reya is committed to promoting opportunities in Africa and helping clients navigate the exciting change happening across the region.
Guests listened to impressive speeches from Tony Blair, the former UK Prime Minister and founder of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change; Hon. Francis Gatare, the CEO of the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board; H.E. Yamina Karitanyi, the High Commissioner for Rwanda; Lord Marland of Odstock, Chairman of CWEIC; and James Libson, Executive Partner of Mishcon de Reya LLP. Subsequently, mining companies gave company showcases on their work in Rwanda.
