A high point for Mishcon de Reya at this year's MIPIM UK trade show at Olympia was the launch of The Top 50 Collaborators List and The Collaborators Supplement, which you will have received with this week's Estates Gazette.
The MIPIM UK inaugural Collaborator of The Year Award was won by Transport for London (TFL) for the collaborations they are embarking on to maximise the potential of their huge real estate holding. As Estates Gazette editor Damian Wild commented as he presented the award, TFL are more often attacked rather than celebrated for collaboration! Hopefully, this heralds a new era for the transport body as they draw up their shortlist of preferred developers. Graeme Craig, TFL's Commercial Development Director also features in an interview alongside Appear Here's Ross Bailey, in the latest edition of our Property Shapers magazine, talking about their Old Street Station joint venture.
Having worked hard on the Collaborators initiative alongside Estates Gazette and our co-sponsors JLL and CRS, we were proud to gain the support of the British Property Federation and UKTI’s Regeneration Investment Organisation. The Collaborators project was born out of last year’s MIPIM UK. Our Big Think on The Future of London debate, chaired by Pat Brown, concluded that the protesters outside the event were saying the same things as the developers inside the event. As a sector, we simply needed to better communicate what it is that we do. Focusing on the collaborative nature of so many of the projects in the built environment is an important part of this. That's why the Top 50 Collaborators incorporates the best collaborators and collaborations drawn from all parts of the property sector and shows that working together can benefit everybody.
