On 19 March, Managing Partner of Mishcon Singapore and Head of Asia, Tahirah Ara spoke at the Asian Legal Business Asia Debt and Debt Restructuring Forum 2021 at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore. The new post-Brexit sponsorship system

On 31 December 2020, the free movement of workers from the EU to the UK came to an end. This means that EU nationals wishing to commence living and working in the UK from 1 January 2021 are no longer able to do so without a visa which permits the work in question.

Brexit and Trade: The Automotive Sector

According to the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), the UK automotive industry generates more than £78.9 billion in turnover and adds £15.3 billion value to the UK economy. Of the c 1.3 million cars manufactured in the UK in 2019 80% were made for export, with more than half of the exports heading for the EU and the USA second at around 19% of export volumes.
