Property Week: A 'double bill of government reforms'

Posted on 30 May 2022

In a recent piece for Property Week, Planning Partner Anita Rivera, Real Estate Tax Partner Jonathan Legg, and Trainee Solicitor Lydia Boateng detail the forthcoming changes in the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill, as heralded by the Queen's Speech.

The Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill makes numerous changes to existing legislation, compulsory purchase, local government and, of course, planning.

The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill will broaden Companies House’s powers, including new powers to check, remove or decline information relating to the Companies Register; introduce identity verification for people who manage, own and control companies and other registered entities; provide Companies House with more investigation and enforcement powers and introduce better cross-checking of data; and strengthen transparency requirements for limited partnerships.
