Nina O'Sullivan, Legal Director in Intellectual Property, has been quoted in Managing Intellectual Property's latest article on GDPR. The article, "GDPR Creates Problems for Online Enforcement" discusses how several domain-name registrars are choosing to adopt restrictive data policies in response to the new GDPR legislation, which is a problem for rights holders.
Nina said, "WHOSIS has been a hugely valuable tool for law enforcement agencies and rights owners in dealing with internet abuses. The concern is that it will become a fragmented system, which will allow registries and registrars to adopt divergent approaches to access to data, including adopting charging models."
