Mishcon de Reya's Real Estate team, led by Partners Ed Hughes-Power and Nick Minkoff, advised Derwent London on the first letting at its Brunel Building, one of the last major sites to be developed in Paddington Basin. Sony Pictures Entertainment has taken 77,200 sq ft and will occupy floors 10 to 13 and part of floor 9.
The Brunel Building is one of a number of new schemes at North Wharf Road that will complete the regeneration of this historic waterfront as Paddington re-establishes itself as the gateway to the city. The 243,000 sq ft. office scheme will offer a wide variety of workplace configurations when complete in 2019. The 17-storey scheme is situated in a prime location which will allow public access to Paddington Basin for the first time in over forty years and will be adjacent to Paddington station, which the Elizabeth line will join in December 2018. Architects, Fletcher Priest, took their inspiration from the great civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel when designing the striking diagrid structure. The ground floor will have a spacious canal-side reception as well as restaurant/café space, and in addition the building will benefit from two large rooftop terraces.
