On Sunday April 8 The Sunday Times ran a story entitled "Brian May sued his neighbours over building works. With more people than ever extending, how do you avoid disputes with next door?" The feature discussed the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with your neighbours during construction and included comments from Property Litigation Partner Joanna Lampert.
“Costs of £200,000 for a property dispute are not unusual and can often be higher,” says Joanna Lampert, partner in the property litigation group at the law firm Mishcon de Reya. “Cases relating to building works become very expensive — not just due to lawyers but because of multiple expert witnesses, including acoustic consultants, specialist engineers and hydrologists where a basement is being dug.”
