Mishcon de Reya Employment Partner Jennifer Millins has been recognised for her significant contribution to the debate on gender pay equality – most notably leading a landmark case advising the BBC’s former China editor, Carrie Gracie, on allegations of serious breaches of equal pay law against the BBC. This dispute - and Jennifer's involvement advising a number of high profile BBC journalists - gained global coverage as one of the most significant equal pay scandals in the legislation’s history.
Jennifer has become a key spokesperson in the media on issues relating to equal pay, the interplay with the gender pay gap and the effect of pay transparency on gender equality. In her role on the Board of Mishcon's Academy Council – the firm's in house place of learning and platform for thought leadership - Jennifer has recently launched an in depth research project, partnering with academics to explore the complex causes of the gender pay gap, current best practice and alternative approaches to gender pay gap reporting.
