The IMC launches – with Mishcon's Head of Immigration

On 3 October, the Investment Migration Council (IMC) was formally launched; an initiative formed by leading experts in immigration and citizenship by investment to give the industry a voice, and regulate the market of service providers. Mishcon de Reya's Head of Immigration, Kamal Rahman, is one of the Council's founding members and is on the Governing Board.

The investment migration industry has grown significantly over the past decade. Immigration and citizenship options for investors have become topics of significant interest among international clients as well as practitioners and companies providing services to such clients. Likewise, countries are increasingly keen on attracting more foreign direct investment through investor immigration and citizenship programs.

Commenting on the launch, Kamal said: "Immigration issues – particularly those specific to investors – continue to evolve, creating a need for a central, responsible body to represent the industry in the interests of our clients. By only offering membership to reputable firms, the IMC will fulfil this role and provide significant structure, standards, and accountability”.
