Partner and Head of Sport Liz Ellen has been appointed as the first chair of SOFIA, established as an independent representative organisation aimed at those legally authorised to operate in the field of professional football representation.
Commenting on the appointment, Ellen said “I am delighted to have been appointed as the first Chair of SOFIA, a post I will hold until the role is filled after a democratic vote. As an experienced sports lawyer, and formerly a Licensed Agent and Agents’ Representative on the FA’s Agents Panel, I am well aware of the challenges that the agency industry faces, but also the challenges that the governing bodies, clubs and players face when dealing with agents (and now intermediaries). SOFIA is an independent representative body that we believe will play a key role in enhancing the reputation of football intermediaries and building strong links within the game as a whole. SOFIA exists not only to help its members attain and sustain high professional standards that are recognised by the stakeholders in football but to give its members a credible voice on matters affecting their role in the industry.”
