Inmidtown - Business Group For Midtown Area - Appoints New Chair, Elliot Moss

Inmidtown – representing the interests of over 560 businesses in Bloomsbury, Holborn and St Giles – today announced the appointment of a new Chairman, Elliot Moss.

Working with the CEO of Inmidtown, Tass Mavrogordato, Moss will play a significant role in supporting Mavrogordato and the Inmidtown board to ensure that the area is fully recognised as a major asset to London’s commercial offer and the number one destination for both domestic and international businesses to locate.  Moss will be working with Mavrogordato and major midtown stakeholders from across the area’s business community as well as with Inmidtown partners including TFL, Camden Council and the Mayor’s Office. Moss will also work with the GLA and London’s promotional bodies to continue to drive forward the rapid rise of the area.

Midtown has been designated as an area for significant growth over the next 20 years in the Mayor’s London Plan.  Inmidtown has previously reported that the area is already set to see over £3.6 billion of investment in the area resulting from 26 major development projects currently underway, as well as the £450 million upgrade of Holborn Tube Station and £350 million redevelopment of Centre Point.

CEO of Inmidtown, Tass Mavrogordato says of the appointment of Moss as Chair, “Elliot is a long term supporter of Inmidtown and a respected figure on the midtown business scene.  He shares our vision to see the area fulfil its considerable potential and will help drive forward our five year plan to deliver a prosperous future for our businesses and stakeholders.”

Moss is Director of Business Development for the leading law firm Mishcon de Reya which has been in the midtown area for over 20 years. The firm has recently re-developed Africa House and will be moving in over the summer.

Moss has long had a vested interest in London’s commercial vibrancy having been on the board of the London Chamber of Commerce since 2008 and the Deputy Chair since 2013. In 2012, Moss was heralded as the first non-lawyer in the Financial Times’ top ten most innovative individuals in law.  In his spare time, Moss presents the ‘Jazz Shapers’ programme on Jazz FM and BA High Life, interviewing business founders and leaders across all sectors.

Elliot Moss, Chairman, Inmidtown says: “This is a pivotal time for midtown to become acknowledged as a world class destination for business. I look forward to working closely with our businesses and wider stakeholders to enable us to fulfil our plans and achieve substantial success.

Inmidtown’s five year business plan was approved in April 2015 with 88% of businesses in Bloomsbury, Holborn and St Giles, [representing 90% of the businesses’ rateable value] voting the organisation in to develop the future of the area.
