Mishcon de Reya Planning Lawyer Daniel Farrand last night featured on BBC News at Six talking to Home Editor Mark Easton about the government's announcement that it is seizing control of house building on public land. Labelled a 'huge shift in housing policy', this is a bid to speed up construction by commissioning housing directly from smaller building companies.
Daniel Farrand commented on the plans to engage smaller building companies, saying:
"I've not seen any evidence that these large public sector sites can't be delivered by the big names. I'm not sure this is going to produce any more houses than the government were already intending on producing."
