Mishcon de Reya has today announced the appointment of Data Protection Advisor, Jon Baines, who joins the firm's growing Data Protection and Information Law practice.
A Data Protection and Freedom of Information expert, Jon is chair of the National Association of Data Protection Officers and Freedom of Information Officers (NADPO). He holds an LLM in Information Rights Law and Practice from the University of Northumbria. Jon was most recently Data Protection Officer for Network Rail, a national critical infrastructure company, and subject matter expert for its GDPR programme.
Commenting on Jon's appointment, Adam Rose, Head of the Data Protection group at Mishcon de Reya, said:
"Jon is one of the UK's best-known practitioners of data protection law, and is one of its leading commentators. His views are regularly sought by others in this field, and his arrival at the firm boosts our already comprehensive practice. As a former Data Protection Officer of a national critical infrastructure company, Jon has real, practical experience of data protection law and, having been subject matter expert for GDPR, his arrival could not be more timely for our clients.
Jon added: "I'm really excited to be joining Mishcon de Reya's Data Protection group and I'm looking forward to working with Adam and the wider team as they continue to develop the services they offer their wide range of clients."
Jon will continue to tweet and blog about data developments, both on Mishcon de Reya's websites and on his own informationrightsandwrongs blog.
