Twenty EU regulators sign cooperation arrangement

On 27 November gambling regulatory authorities from twenty EEA Member States signed a ‘cooperation arrangement,’ designed to formalise cooperation between regulators in different Member States in the absence of a harmonised EU framework for online gambling. The cooperation arrangement should have the effect of reducing operators’ administrative burdens and should address the concerns of regulators around consumer protection. Nick Nocton and Nick McVeigh of Mishcon de Reya LLP discuss the contents of this non-binding arrangement and the major points of interest therein, such as the issue of information-sharing.
