The Lawyer has today announced the cases it has ranked 1 to 10 of its Top 20 of 2017: those 'which will become the most high-value and explosive claims of the next 12 months'. Two of Mishcon de Reya's cases feature in the top 10, with H Tempest Ltd & Ors v Royal Mail topping the list, led by Tax Litigation Partner Leslie Allen, and Libyan Investment Authority v Société Générale & Ors listed sixth, with Fraud Defence Partners Kathryn Garbett and Claire Broadbelt representing defendant Walid Giahmi.
This year is gearing up to be one of the most lucrative ever for the UK disputes market, with a record £25bn in dispute across The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases 2017.
Once again, no-conflict firms and litigation boutiques get a good inning in this year’s list. Mishcon de Reya is acting on two cases in the list, though it would have been four had it not settled with RBS in the shareholder action and stepped down from the National Bank Trust case late last year.
