Hilton hotels ruling - Not revolutionary, but useful

Today's Court of Appeal decision, dismissing an appeal by tenants over alienation covenants in the leases of 10 hotels in the Hilton group, has been greeted as a useful, common sense ruling by lawyers.

Commenting, Daniel Levy, head of property litigation at Mishcon de Reya, said: "The Court has sought to uphold the intention of the parties. The court's decision is commercial common sense and consistent with the legislation."
