Pro Bono and Volunteering

Our Social Impact Strategy enables every lawyer at Mishcon to deliver at least 50 hours of pro bono work every year. Our lawyers are also encouraged and supported to become trustees of charities and offered opportunities to work in leading charities to experience law in a different setting. Support staff are encouraged to carry out 25 hours of volunteering work every year and have their own set of volunteering opportunities available to them.

Pro Bono

Supporting the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre in two of their award winning pro bono legal projects: Pink Law and SPITE (Sharing and Publishing Images to Embarrass).  Pink Law supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients seeking legal advice on a range of issues relating to family law including civil partnership formation and dissolution, cohabitation and adoption. SPITE is a "revenge porn" advice service, assisting those who find that their intimate images are shared online without their consent.

Members of our employment team regularly volunteer at the Centre which provides free legal advice in debt, employment, housing and welfare benefits for Londoners on low incomes.

We are a member of the award-winning TLC service which aims to spread the practice of pro bono worldwide, connecting the best law firms and corporations around the world with high-impact NGOs and social enterprises in need of free legal assistance.  We have carried out work for the IRC and World Vision.

Bridging the gap between charities and corporates, Benefacto offers easy to book volunteer sessions throughout London.

We work with Trustees Unlimited part of NCVO, the UK's leading membership organisation for charities and voluntary organisations, which offers a bespoke match making service to help people in the firm explore becoming and securing a position as a Trustee.

We are supporting Inspiring the Future; Inspiring Women, a campaign launched by Miriam González Durántez which will reach out to hundreds of thousands of girls across the country, helping them make informed choices, broaden their horizons and raise aspirations. For girls and young women, it’s ‘who you know’ that influences career aspirations and choice. Several members of our female staff have already begun speaking at schools around the country.

We support Speak Street's Art Talks - a fun and social opportunity for people to share their English skills with refugees and migrants at some of London's most inspiring galleries and museums.

We have partnered with The Silver Line which is the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Currently 14 members of staff dedicate 30 minutes per week to speak with their Silver Line Friend an older person they have been matched with and who is suffering from loneliness.
