Simon runs Mishcon's worldwide trade mark filing practice and is a barrister in the Intellectual Property (IP) litigation team. He is a recognised consumer facing brands IP expert, who since qualifying as a barrister in 1995 has specialised in trade mark, passing off, design right, copyright, domain name and confidential information advice. He is commended by clients as "a multi-dimensional lawyer with an impressively broad set of skills." (Chambers UK 2012). Simon has provided top level strategy advice on substantial trade mark portfolios and acted in a wide variety of reported IP disputes before the UK IPO, OHIM, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the ECJ.
Simon represents a variety of household brand names and famous personalities in relation to their trade mark portfolios, brand protection matters and licensing deals and disputes (including those arising from copyright). His clients range from Abercrombie & Fitch, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Ferrari and Phat Farm through to stars such as Christopher Bailey, Pharrell Williams, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
Simon also advises on anti-counterfeiting campaigns, parallel importing / grey goods actions, brand expansion planning, IP licence disputes, consumer protection issues and world wide trade mark and registered design. He is widely quoted in the media and an active member of the International Trademark Association. He is a member of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, the International Trademark Association (INTA), INTA's Enforcement Committee and INTA's Discovery Practices and Procedures Subcommittee of the Enforcement Committee. He is also a member of the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG), Walpole's IP Committee and a Mentor-speaker for The Prince's Trust.
