Andrew heads the Tax and Wealth Planning practice. He advises families and trustees, here and overseas, on all aspects of personal tax, wills and trusts - both UK and offshore. He also advises on charitable giving and Lasting Powers of Attorney. His clients cover all sectors and ages and include many high profile names.

Andrew also advises entrepreneurs and key executives on relevant tax relief and tax efficient investments, such as Business and Agricultural Property Relief, CGT Entrepreneurs Relief, Enterprise Investment Schemes and Venture Capital Trusts.

He is a published author on tax and estate planning, has written numerous articles and is quoted widely in the national press. Andrew was listed in Spears Wealth Management Top 50 (2007), shortlisted for the 2009 Citywealth Magic Circle Awards as a Leading Lawyer and most recently included in the 2010 Citywealth Leaders List. He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Key Experience

Carrying out a major tax and restructuring project for a high-profile Russian business leader.
Provided urgent advice to a London hedge fund on the possible application of the Bankers' Bonus Tax on their proposed multi-million pound bonuses.
Advising on the creation of a Panama foundation for a Kazakh oligarch to hold his UK properties.
Advising a married couple on the practical and tax issues resulting from the fact that their overseas marriage had not been validly registered in this country. In particular, we advised on the very serious tax implications following previous transfers of valuable assets between them when they mistakenly thought they were legally married, and the effect on their existing wills and estate planning.

Career History

Andrew trained at Lawrence Graham (now LG) where he spent a further three years in the firm's tax department. He then moved to accountancy firm RSM Robson Rhodes (now Grant Thornton) where he specialised in capital taxes advice for entrepreneurs. In 1999 he was asked to set up Freeman Business Information plc where he held the post of managing director for four years. Andrew joined Mishcon de Reya in 2003.
