New hire strengthens Mishcon de Reya's Planning & Environment Group
Mishcon de Reya has boosted its Planning & Environment Group with the appointment of a new consultant. Wesley Fongenie joined the Firm on 17 January 2012 from Nabarro LLP, where he was a Partner in the Planning Group.
Prior to his four years at Nabarro, Wesley spent six years as a Partner and Joint Head of Planning at Osborne Clarke. He regularly acts for a range of developers, investors and property companies on complex and high profile schemes.
Wesley has extensive experience in providing strategic advice on major developments, including advising and negotiating on large infrastructure agreements. His expertise also encompasses public inquiry work, both at appeal and in promoting schemes via the local plan, as well as High Court and judicial review actions.
Nick Doffman, Head of Real Estate at Mishcon de Reya, said: “For many of our clients, one of the keys to unlocking value within their property portfolios is a comprehensive planning capability. Therefore it is vital that we can provide a fully integrated planning service to complement our general real estate offering. Having worked within the planning sector for more than 25 years – 14 at partnership level – Wesley has a wealth of experience and a proven reputation within the market. His expertise and significant connections will be a huge benefit to our team.”
Wesley Fongenie added: “An increasing number of the best real estate opportunities off which planning lawyers can leverage are driven by finance. Mishcon de Reya's well resourced real estate department, with its mature finance and full service offering, will provide exciting opportunities for me to develop my existing client base as well as to reinforce the Firm's highly regarded planning practice.”
