Mishcon de Reya advises on US$3.3 billion oil & gas deal in Kazakhstan
Mishcon de Reya advised the majority shareholder of Central Asian Petroleum Ltd (CAP), the holding company of Kazakhstan's largest privately-owned oil company, JSC MangistauMunaiGaz (MMG) in relation to the disposal of a 100% stake in MMG to Mangistau Investments - a joint venture between China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and KazMunaiGas (KMG).
The transaction completed on 25 November 2009 and, at a value of US$3.3 billion, included what is believed to be the largest single-day trade in the history of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.
The Mishcon de Reya team was led by Corporate Partners Kevin Gold, Larry Nathan, Kevin McCarthy and Andrew Savile, assisted by Lara Howlett.
Corporate Partner Larry Nathan says of the deal:
"This was a highly complex and sensitive transaction which required significant project management and technical input. It represents an important transaction for the Mishcon team. We look forward to continued involvement with this long-standing client, both in the Central Asian region and elsewhere."
